Aspiring Knebworth Music Producer ‘Inspired’ By Top Record Label Owner’s Visit to DLD College London

Knebworth resident and budding music producer Kier Daley, 17, got the chance to put his questions to respected record label owner Nikki Acute when the esteemed artist manager visited Music and Music Technology students at DLD College London.

Nikki and KierOn Tuesday, 8 October, Nikki, the founder of Synchronicity Records, Acute Artists and ukbassmusic.com gave an intriguing talk to A-level, GCSE and BTEC students at the leading independent Marylebone college and offered an insight into what it’s really like to work in one of the biggest creative industries on the planet.

First deliveries of Vauxhall’s highly-acclaimed New Insignia range are arriving in Hertfordshire and Marshall Vauxhall is inviting motorists to discover more about this new model line-up.

The new range offers new design, greater cutting-edge equipment, significantly improved engines and a more engaging driving experience on-the-road. It comprises a five-door Hatchback, four-door Saloon and Sports Tourer estate, alongside an all-new, range-topping, SUV-inspired Country Tourer variant and a high performance VXR Supersport; the fastest car available in the UK for under £30,000.

InsigniaOrder banks are open and prices now start at just £16,279, which is nearly £2,000 less than the entry level vehicle of the outgoing line-up. With its classic lines, fine styling and premium design, Vauxhall’s New Insignia range is likely to appeal to families, business users and company car drivers alike.

What’s more, motorists will benefit from a completely re-designed centre console and instrument cluster and improved control-functionality. DATES FOR YOUR CALENDAR

Operation Christmas Child:
This Sunday November 3rd is also the deadline to get your filled shoe-boxes to St. Martin's for Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas Child sends gift-filled shoeboxes around the world to underprivileged children. Shoeboxes and leaflets giving details are available from the back of St. Martin's, which is normally open during school hours.

Let's get messy:
That's the message for the new monthly Messy Church sessions in St. Martin's Parish Centre. Families are invited to take part in lots of fun, craft and activities, finishing with a hot meal together, from 4-5.30pm. There's a small charge - £1 for parents/carers and one child, plus 50p for each additional child - to cover costs. The first opportunity to get messy together is Sunday November 3rd and the first Bible story to be looked at will be the parable of the Sower.

Remember remember the Ninth of November:
Now that is a date when you can enjoy some fireworks fun. Fireworks to music, in fact, courtesy of Datchworth Sports Club. Their Fireworks Extravaganza starts from 5pm, with the fireworks themselves going off at 6.15pm. A beer tent, mulled wine, tea and coffee are all on offer. Cost is £15 for a family, £7 for an adult and £3 for children under 16. I can’t actually discover where you can get the tickets – but the telephone number for Datchworth Sports Club is 01438 812490.

From Trinity to Trinidad:
Colin and Liz Stringer are giving a talk with photos on Tuesday November 12th at 7.30pm in Trinity Church, Park Lane. They visited three UNESCO World heritage sites, including the historic centre of Trinidad (Spanish for Trinity). All welcome, but we are warned to adjust our watches to local Cuban time - some point in the early 1960s.

KATS (Knebworth Amateur Theatrical Society) present Terry Pratchett’s Guards! Guards! By Stephen Briggs.
Thursday 21st, Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd November
7.45pm in Knebworth Village Hall, Park Lane. Tickets £7 (concessions £6) from Jo Simson 01438 814166, or Village News, Station Road, Knebworth. Carrot is different from the other dwarves – he’s six feet tall. There’s only one thing for it – he’ll have to leave and join the City Night Watch in Ankh-Morpork. It’s unfortunate that he’s arrived just at the moment when the city is under threat from a 60-foot fire-breathing dragon . . . perhaps the Librarian, whose dabbling in magic had the unfortunate side-effect of turning him into an Orangutan – can help him. To aficionados of Terry Pratchett’s Disc World it will all sound familiar. For the rest of us – it will just be tremendous fun!

KNEBWORTH RUNNERS NETWORK

Liz Kirby and her friend started running training in January 2011 in preparation for a 10k charity run. Mow they are fitter than ever and totally hooked on the buzz they get from running; so much so that they decided to look for a local running club. Then it occurred to them, why drive to a running club when there are lots of beautiful running routes around Knebworth?

If you are interested in helping create or join a Knebworth runners' network, please contact Liz at lizkirby63@gmail.com. It doesn't matter what your motivation is - competition, getting fitter or simply becoming better acquainted with your fellow villagers.
