Marshall Vauxhall helps motorists get a fresh start this autumn

After taking to the road on summer journeys in scorching temperatures, the retailer which has sites in Knebworth and Welwyn Garden City, is keen to ensure customers’ vehicles are in the best possible condition, now that the heat wave is over and autumn weather is on its way.

As such, to offer complete peace of mind and safety, the retailer is inviting Vauxhall owners to visit them for a complimentary vehicle health check.

Vehicle Health CheckThe retailer’s team of fully trained Vauxhall technicians will check a vehicle’s brakes, steering, tyres, exhaust and much more at absolutely no cost, and will give drivers a printed no obligation condition report advising any work required, so they can feel confident their car will get them from A to B safely and stress-free.

Jeremy Hutton, General Manager, comments: “With many people having journeyed across the country and even across the continent during this summer’s searing temperatures, cars will certainly have been put through their paces! Now that cooler weather conditions are on the horizon, we want to help reduce the risks of a vehicle breaking down, which is why we’re offering a free of charge vehicle health check.”

To take advantage, all Vauxhall owners need to do is simply contact the retailer and book their vehicle in for a free vehicle health check.

A breath of fresh air
In addition to offering a complimentary vehicle health check, the retailer is also offering a great-value air conditioning debug, to give vehicles a fresh start so they’re ready for autumn travels.

Jeremy Hutton adds: “When travelling in hot weather, drivers will have enjoyed the comforting coolness of their air-conditioning systems, but now that the warm spells are waning, it’s the ideal time to ensure that any bacteria, mould and fungi that has built up in the system is removed, which can cause unpleasant odours, allergic reactions and irritations.”

Until 30th September, the retailer is offering motorists a thorough Air Conditioning De-Bug for just £19.99, where Vauxhall technicians will cleanse the system to remove any bacteria that may be present, improve air quality, eliminate odours and provide a healthier environment for drivers and their passengers.

Save Life - give blood:

On Your Bikes:
As the nights draw in the evening rambles draw to a close. But there's a great opportunity to get on your bikes on Saturday September 14th from 10am to 6pm and visit as many churches as you can in Hertfordshire. There are over 600 of them - so it's highly unlikely you will do them all, but it's a great day out. If you don't have a bike, you can hike. The sponsored Bike'n'Hike is in aid of Beds. and Hers. Historic Churches Trust, with participating churches receiving 50% of the money their bikers and hikers raise. Church contacts for sponsor forms in Knebworth are: St. Mary's and St. Martin's, Penny Paton 01438 313241; St. Thomas More, Wendy Marley, 01438 226922; Trinity, Gill Hughes 01438 8113049.

Rev ElvisElvis is coming to Knebworth:
Well actually, it's Andy Kelso, but he does a very good impersonation in his Gospel Tribute Act, which comes to St. Martin's church on Friday September 20th at 7.30pm. Tickets £10, concessions £8, from Village News, Station Road.

Andy trained as an actor before going into the church. He then ran his own theatre company and had a play he wrote produced at the Putney Theatre in London. He’s a gifted singer and studied at the Royal Academy of Music. He has appeared on BBC Radio singing Elvis songs, talking about his Tribute Act, and even doing a special Elvis Gospel service! He has recorded five CD’s as well as writing two books. He has had coverage of his Gospel Tribute Act in the national press, on Japa-nese TV, and recorded for The Rob Brydon Show on BBC TV. He has recently filmed for BBC 4 and a short film about him will soon be coming out called “Finding Elvis!“

Andy says of his show: “I want everyone to have a great evening enjoying the best of Elvis! The blend of rock, ballad, and gospel makes for an interesting mix but this reflects Elvis as a whole. He loved his gospel songs more than anything and greatly prized his Grammy Awards for them. I’m able to share a little of Elvis’ journey in between songs and also share how some of his journey and mine were the same. It will definitely be a night to remember!”

Cake stall:
Home made cakes, scones and preserves are on offer on Saturday September 28th at a fundraising cake stall on the green in front of St. Martin's Church from 9.30am. Warning - it's the early shopper who gets the cakes. They tend to sell like - well, like hot cakes.

Jo Simson

Liz Kirby and her friend started running training in January 2011 in preparation for a 10k charity run. Mow they are fitter than ever and totally hooked on the buzz they get from running; so much so that they decided to look for a local running club. Then it occurred to them, why drive to a running club when there are lots of beautiful running routes around Knebworth?

If you are interested in helping create or join a Knebworth runners' network, please contact Liz at lizkirby63@gmail.com. It doesn't matter what your motivation is - competition, getting fitter or simply becoming better acquainted with your fellow villagers.
