EDNA CHANNING |
A lovely lady, well-known in the village and loved by all who knew her, Edna was a good friend and neighbour to many. Sadly, she died suddenly on Saturday 27th April whilst in hospital. A lady of great faith, Edna was Superintendent of St. Martin's Junior Church for many years and sang in the worship group, Celebration. There will be a short service of committal at Harwood Park Crematorium at 11am on Tuesday 14th May for family and close friends followed at 11.45am by a Service of Thanksgiving for Edna's life, to which all are most welcome. There will be the opportunity during the service for people to share their memories of Edna. This will be followed by light refreshments in the Parish Centre.....more

NEW HOUSEHOLD RECYCLING ARRANGEMENTS |
New household recycling arrangements are coming into force this year, which include a new bin for non-recyclable rubbish, leaving the existing grey bin free for all recyclable waste, except paper, which would still go in the blue box. Cardboard would no longer go in the brown bin, but in the mixed recycling bin, the brown bin would contain garden and food waste only, compostable bags will be supplied. The black box would no longer be required, as glass and cans would go into the mixed recyclable bin. Unfortunately the full details, which are given on page 8 of the NHDC Magazine Outlook, are a little confusing. They refer to the "new bin" for non-recyclable rubbish which will end up in landfill, then the "new mixed recycling bin" to be used for all the recyclable stuff (except paper). I guess the "new mixed recycling bin " is the old grey bin. Perhaps someone can correct me if I have misunderstood. If you have any comments or feedback email service@north-herts.gov.uk or call 01462 474000.

SHEDDING UNWANTED WEIGHT |
Losing weight will be on the agenda for lots of us in the New Year, following the seasonal excesses, something that I had to do last January in preparation for an operation. I lost 5 stones (70 lbs) and the most wonderful thing was, that I never felt hungry whilst doing so, all thanks to Ann Pugh, who introduced me to The “Forever” Weight Loss Programme.
Ann followed up with regular contact and encouragement and I am thankful to her for all her efforts. After Christmas, I shall be back on the "Programme" with the intention of losing another two or three stones by Spring time, when I am hoping the operation will be able to take place. If you want to lose weight safely and easily try the "Forever" Weight Loss Programme.

KATS (Knebworth Amateur Theatrical Society)
Present Habeas Corpus by Alan Bennett (not suitable for children)
23rd to 25th May
Habeas Corpus is one of the funniest, non-pc and most irreverent plays around. Written by Bennett in the 1970s, it revolves around the lustful inclinations of Dr. Arthur Wicksteed, General Practitioner of Hove, his family and others drawn on to his merry-go-round. These include: Arthur's wife, Muriel, frustrated and lusting after Arthur's old rival, Sir Percy Shorter, President of the BMA; Arthur's sister Constance, whose flat chest has always held her back; her intended, Canon Throbbing, and Dennis, Arthur's hypochondriac son. At his best when dying from an obscure disease, Dennis has a life-changing experience when he meets Felicity, newly-arrived from Rhodesia with her mother, Delia, Lady Rumpers. Add to the mix appliance fitter Denzil Shanks, manic depressive Mr Purdue and Mrs Swabb - the char who tries to keep everyone on the straight and narrow - and you have an evening of outrageous hilarity.
Tickets £6.50, concessions £5.50

KNEBWORTH RUNNERS NETWORK |
Liz Kirby and her friend started running training in January 2011 in preparation for a 10k charity run. Mow they are fitter than ever and totally hooked on the buzz they get from running; so much so that they decided to look for a local running club. Then it occurred to them, why drive to a running club when there are lots of beautiful running routes around Knebworth?
If you are interested in helping create or join a Knebworth runners' network, please contact Liz at lizkirby63@gmail.com. It doesn't matter what your motivation is - competition, getting fitter or simply becoming better acquainted with your fellow villagers. |
