Please try NOT to be ill over Christmas but, if you need the Surgery, it will open as normal on Christmas Eve, December 27th, 28th and 31st. The Knebworth Village chemists are open on the same days, with one of them also being open on Saturday December 29th.

The very best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Two acclaimed local artists, Denise Allen of Bramfield and Fiona Pruden of Welwyn, have challenged each other to a “Battle of the Brushes!” The two artists – both of Willow Watercolours – enjoy a bit of friendly banter and some healthy competition where their watercolours are concerned. Battle of the BrushesTo help settle the score both artists will open their home studios to the public between 11am and 4pm on the second Sunday of every month, ie Sunday 9th December, Sunday 13th January and Sunday 10th February etc, inviting all local art lovers and interested parties to take a leisurely wander between studios and choose which has ‘brushed up’ the better artworks for you to browse through or just snap-up a great commission-free bargain each month. Refreshments will be available - including home-made cakes in a proper ‘bake-off’ style - so put the dates in your diary and pay them both a visit.

Losing weight will be on the agenda for lots of us in the New Year, following the seasonal excesses, something that I had to do last January in preparation for an operation. I lost 5 stones (70 lbs) and the most wonderful thing was, that I never felt hungry whilst doing so, all thanks to Ann Pugh, who introduced me to The “Forever” Weight Loss Programme.

Ann followed up with regular contact and encouragement and I am thankful to her for all her efforts. After Christmas, I shall be back on the "Programme" with the intention of losing another two or three stones by Spring time, when I am hoping the operation will be able to take place. If you want to lose weight safely and easily try the "Forever" Weight Loss Programme.

New Year's Day Ramble:
Why not join us for a short ramble around the village, to walk off those festive pounds! Our Knebworth Walking Group has been expanding this year, and we regularly attract between 20-30 walkers on our fortnightly rambles around Hertfordshire. We normally walk on a Tuesday morning, but for this walk only, Tuesday 1st January, we will be setting off at 1.30 pm from Knebworth Village Hall. The walk is about 2-3 miles and when we return, the Womens Institute are providing tea and mince pies. So do come and join us. There is no need to book, just turn up. We will do the walk whatever the weather.

Liz Kirby and her friend started running training in January 2011 in preparation for a 10k charity run. Mow they are fitter than ever and totally hooked on the buzz they get from running; so much so that they decided to look for a local running club. Then it occurred to them, why drive to a running club when there are lots of beautiful running routes around Knebworth?

If you are interested in helping create or join a Knebworth runners' network, please contact Liz at lizkirby63@gmail.com. It doesn't matter what your motivation is - competition, getting fitter or simply becoming better acquainted with your fellow villagers.

A multi- activity group for over 65’s is restarting in Knebworth and is Herts Sports Partnershipproviding local residents with the chance to try gentle and seated exercises, table tennis, badminton, new age bowls, indoor curling and even some local health walks.
