KNEBWORTH VILLAGE FESTIVAL ASSOCIATION AGM

AGM - 22nd October
A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the enormous success of the 2012 Knebworth Village Festival, which helped a large number of Local Organisations.

It was a truly community event enjoyed by all the Village. this yea2012rs Festival was organized by the following small group of people from the Village: Henry Cobbold, Pam Culley, John Drake, Rebecca Goldby, Derek Harrison, Sam Jellett, Ann Judge, Jennie Moult, John Warner-Smith and Brian Worthington.

If the Village wishes the Festival to happen next year then please come to the AGM on the 22nd October and show your interest and support. The Festival will not happen unless we have help from the Village. This does not necessarily involve attending meetings but just committing to organising an event /activity or just helping on theday. If you cannot attend the AGM but would like to help in some way, however small, then please email brianworthington@me.com

JO SIMSON REPORTS

THE DOCTOR WILL SEE YOU SOONER:
New arrangements for booking appointments at the Knebworth Surgery are designed to give added flexibility for seeing a Doctor or Nurse. From this week the appointments line (01438 812494) will be open from 8.30am and all the appointments for the day will become available. This replaces the system which required patients to try again at 11.30am. Did you know you can also book appointments online? Contact the surgery to register for Systmonline.

HAPPY HUNDRETH BIRTHDAY KNEBWORTH SCHOOL:
Just over a week to go now for Knebworth School's next big centenary celebration. Look out your school memorabilia and bring it along to Gala Day on September 22 from 1-5pm. Everyone who has had any connection to the School will be most welcome.

GIVE BLOOD - TIME FOR A LIE DOWN?
Well probably not, as last time I attended a session they had rocket-ship style chairs. Come along and see anyway on Tuesday September 25 when the Blood and Transplant unit visits Knebworth Village Hall from 1.30-3.30pm and 5-7.45pm. This is your opportunity to join Team Give Blood. Call 0300 123 23 23 for more details or to book an appointment. Or just turn up on the day.

SPICE IS NICE:
The feasting continues in the Parish Centre on October 6 with an Indian Curry Night at 6.30 for 7pm. For just £10, you can enjoy an authentic Indian Curry and a sweet. Contact Margaret Webb on 01438 811795, email maggiewebb63@googlemail.com but hurry, they are limited to 50. All proceeds to Church funds.

MARSHALL VAUXHALL ENCOURAGE SAEFETY FIRST
Safety First
Local dealer, Marshall Vauxhall, is encouraging drivers in Hertfordshire to put safety first this September, as the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) reveals that the school run is one of the most dangerous times for drivers to take to the road. With dark mornings and evenings on the way, the dealer with branches in Knebworth and Welwyn Garden City, is keen to share top tips with drivers and families, to help keep children safe when walking to and from school.

According to RoSPA, around 30 child pedestrians are killed or seriously injured every week in Great Britain. And encouragingly, whilst this number seems to be falling year on year, for this trend to continue, the need for drivers to be extra-vigilant is more important than ever...more

KNEBWORTH RUNNERS NETWORK

Liz Kirby and her friend started running training in January 2011 in preparation for a 10k charity run. Mow they are fitter than ever and totally hooked on the buzz they get from running; so much so that they decided to look for a local running club. Then it occurred to them, why drive to a running club when there are lots of beautiful running routes around Knebworth?

If you are interested in helping create or join a Knebworth runners' network, please contact Liz at lizkirby63@gmail.com. It doesn't matter what your motivation is - competition, getting fitter or simply becoming better acquainted with your fellow villagers.
