A multi- activity group for over 65’s is restarting in Knebworth and is providing local residents with the chance to try gentle and seated exercises, table tennis, badminton, new age bowls, indoor curling and even some local health walks.
The classes are part of an initiative from Herts Sports Partnership called Active Together, designed to offer enjoyable activities in a relaxed and sociable atmosphere. The two hour sessions take place at Knebworth Village Hall every Friday at 1pm and each class costs just £2.50.
Emma Powell, who attends the Knebworth class, explained how much she’s enjoyed her experience over the last year: “These sessions are good fun with lots of laughter. It’s a very pleasant way of boosting my overall level of activity, which just wouldn’t happen otherwise!”
Joe Capon, Programme Manager from Herts Sports Partnership said: “We’ve run similar classes which have been incredibly popular with local people, who love the social aspect of the class: meeting new friends and having an instructor who is encouraging and can give advice on general health and fitness. It also gives people the chance to discover a new interest or develop different skills. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been inactive for a long time, the emphasis is taking part, so come along and have a go, have some fun and enjoy yourself.”
